Private is a pop music trio that weaves classic pop melody with modern dance beats. Private was formed in 2006 by Danish producer/singer Thomas Troelsen, along with guitarist Asger Tarpgaard and vocalist Tanja Simonsen. Sonically, PRIVATE's music is filled with infectious pop hooks and rhythms. Their debut album “My Secret Lover” was produced and recorded by Troelsen in Copenhagen and New York, and mixed in London by Jason Boshoff (Basement Jaxx, David Gray).
The first single, of the same title, has gone Gold in Denmark and reached #1 on the Danish singles, radio and download charts. In 2008 the band was signed to Relentless Records in the UK. Their debut single "My Secret Lover" will be released commercially in the UK on January 17th with remixes by Diplo, Egyptian Lover, Spencer & Hill, Rune RK, Lifelike, and Starsmith. The UK version of the music video for "My Secret Lover" was released on December 7th. The album was released in the UK in early 2010.
Subsequent to Private's success in Denmark, the group has received attention from a number of influential blogs including Perezhilton.com, Arjanwrites.com and the UK's Popjustice, who called the single "completely hypnotic and brilliant." The band has also been featured in Dazed & Confused, NME, Attitude, The Guardian, and Monocle. On his blog, Diplo--who did a remix of "My Secret Lover"--called Private "the best current pop music group in the world."
The Spencer & Hill remix of the track has been featured repeatedly on Friday Floor Fillers with Scott Mills on Radio 1. The album was also Record of the Week on Scott Mills' show on December 7th, 2009. The original track was played on Nick Grimshaw's show on Radio 1 on October 1st, 2009 and was Grimshaw's Record of the Week in September 2009.
